“Don’t take blogging as fashion; take the plunge only if you consider writing to be your passion”.

- Amol Redij

Amol Redij 3We thought writing about Amol, founder of  amolsviews.blogspot.com but were not able to write as better as Amol, the blogger himself (unfortunately we are not a blogger )

In his words “Creative, writer, poet, active blogger, and moronically obsessed with movies. I am a day dreamer and “truly, deeply, madly” in love with the self. And for the “paapi pett”, I have a job in a prestigious IT company; a 31 year old Marathi Manoos from the Aapli Mumbai; I love Mumbai first and India later. My only aspiration is to be good story teller (novel and/or film) – an established writer, to put it plainly. I have finished my book of poetry, 55 poems to be precise, and now it is just “knock knock … heaven’s door should be publisher’s door”

Amol is passionate about writing and this passion inspired him to create his own space in World Wide Web and then http://amolsviews.blogspot.com born in February 2006.

The blog focus on almost all the subject; you can find posts related to movies, social issues, political news and also on some personal stuff.

Here is the detail interview with blogger “Amol.”

Interview (Q&A Round):

Q. What motivated you to start blogging?

Paining hands, exhausted diary pages, excellent typing speed, and curiosity about blogspot.

I have been writing ever since my 7th standard and I have piled up diaries, notepads, and numerous sheets of paper; however, after my nuptials with computers and internet, we threesome got into the act of exploring and exploiting the online medium. I had soon forgotten the use of paper and pen – I use it only to sign on credit card slips.

I had lot of writing, which I eventually started to convert into digital format and over a period of time I could play my keyboard (of the laptop) to the likes of Beethoven.

Alongside, I was exploring the buzz word – “blog”, and later having figured out what it is, I got into blogging.

Q. Tell us in detail about your blog, your idea and how it can benefit others?

As the name goes, my blog is mix of everything. You can find posts related to movies, social issues, political news, my emotions, topics that peripherally touch philosophy.

The primary objective of my blog is to make people think about a particular topic and take their perspective on it. I want to sow a seed of thought so that this seed tomorrow reaps into some fruitful plant. For example, my recent post talks about the mess that we create during the Diwali festival. If the thought that we disgrace the beautiful festival of lights with pollution (noise as well as air) causing crackers and their litter, is understood well, then probably we may really be able to celebrate Diwali in right sense.

No, I am not advising people on what they should do (I am not that great as yet). However, my attempt will remain to present scenarios and leave the inferences to best of their judgement.

Q. What area or topic you generally cover in your blog, any special reason behind it?

I usually write about anything and everything. It is just a matter of heart, brain, and fingers working together in a perfect harmony. I do not restrict myself to any particular topic. I am fervent about writing, and I write to quench my passion. My blog is my writing space, and readers of wide variety are welcome there, hence I do not want to classify my blog under a particular domain.

Most of writings are my personal observations about issues – social, political, environmental.

Q. Which blogging platform you are using (wordpress, blogspot, bloggers etc), any reason about it?

I love to be loyal (dogs are my best friends) :-]. I used to work for a SEO company, where I used to play around a lot with Google. That is where I had an encounter with BLOGSPOT, and I saw no reason why not to signup there. Google has helped me lot of times in lot many things, thus I remained to stick with Google products.

Q. How frequent you update your blog? How many post your blog is carrying at present?

I would love to flood my blog with posts. However, low tides of indolence and tedium sometimes makes me take gaps. At times, my blog has been embellished with more than five posts a month and many times I couldn’t even feed my blog with one post. Though, I have now made it a practice to write at least one post a month.

I have 123 posts on my blog.

Q. What tools you use to increase your blog readership and bring people on your blog? Do you use social networking sites?

None really! Though I have a separate mailing list to which I send an email every time I update my blog. I have signed up on Technorati as well. However, I seldom take any efforts to publicize my blog. I would rather concentrate all my potency in constructive writing.

Q. Any specific tips you have for new bloggers who want to make it in the blogsphere?

OMG, I am so providential!

Blog may seem like a personal diary, and it surely does serve that purpose as well. However, blogging is now the most effective way of written communication. Remember that pen has always been mightier than sword and it holds perfectly true today as well. While you can enjoy the blog space for your personal scribblings, also make sure that your blog is rich with quality content.

Don’t take blogging as fashion; take the plunge only if you consider writing to be your passion.

It is easy to learn swimming but it takes real effort to keep swimming. Carve out a focus, what you want to achieve out of your blog, even if it means fame, money, or authority. Be like a postage stamp, stick on there until you have reached where you wanted to.

Write because you love it, write for yourself. Don’t be put off with worrying thoughts that your writing will receive criticism or may not go well through your target audience. If you are successful at being a good quality writer, you will get an equally good reader.

Also make sure that you don’t always have readers who only “ahh”, “wow” “ahaa” your writing, have some who “awe” and “yuck” as well.

Q. Do you earn revenue through your blog? If yes then how a blogger should monetize his / her blog? If no, then any plans in future?

Yes, I do have an account with AdSense. However, it was just out of curiosity to know how AdSense works. Nothing came into my account for first six months and the account balance was as blank as a widow’s forehead. I gave up checking into the account there after.

I have not made any plans to generate revenue from my blog. “Love is often gentle, desire always a rage”, I want to continue with my love for writing and keep away any desires of generating money.

Q. What are your other favorite blogs which you follow, can you list the top 5 such blogs?

  • “Anything Wise Under The Sun” (http://anythingwise.blogspot.com/), my friend, Praveen Bhat’s blog, which I regularly follow and read. The blog is mostly about spirituality, philosophy, and personal observations.
  • “Prasad Talks” (http://prasadtalks.blogspot.com/), relatively a new blog. However, I am sure with time Prasad will come up with effective blogging and quality content. Prasad’s articles have been featured in many newspapers, primarily Economic Times.
  • I also follow Rajdeep Sardesai’s blog on www.ibnlive.com.
  • I read Anitha’s “Life’s Like That” (http://ani-grace.blogspot.com/), a nice fresh looking blog with equally refreshing posts by a fellow writer.

These are the only blogs I religiously read. There are many other random blogs that I dig out from the online space to read.
