“Be true to yourself and the purpose you’ve set your blog up for. Readers can sense a fake or a “wannabe” a mile away.”

- Ritu Lalit

Ritu LalitWebneetech.com interviewed Ritu Lalit who run the blog “Weaving A Web“ the blog is all about her personal experience, incident, thought and views.

Ritu Lalit says “A strange thing happens when you grow up and become a job worker.  Your personal life takes a back seat and you become this white collared job profile.  You stop connecting to your own essence, to life around you.  I truly enjoy life, and the quirks and foibles of humanity around me.  It’s lovely and entertaining and I have no one to share it with … so I started blogging.  The very fact that I have people enjoying my blog means that there are like minded people who share my world view, and instead of driving them insane chattering away, I blog for them and for me.”

Interview (Q&A Round)

Q. What motivated you to start blogging?

A strange thing happens when you grow up and become a job worker.  Your personal life takes a back seat and you become this white collared job profile.  You stop connecting to your own essence, to life around you.  I truly enjoy life, and the quirks and foibles of humanity around me.  It’s lovely and entertaining and I have no one to share it with … so I started blogging.  The very fact that I have people enjoying my blog means that there are like minded people who share my world view, and instead of driving them insane chattering away, I blog for them and for me.

Q. Tell us in detail about your blog, your idea and how it can benefit others?

My blog is about me, my family and my pets.  It is not high brow intellectualism or a business blog.  It is a slice of my life, and represents the part of me I would like to share with the world.  That is all.  I have never aimed at preaching to others, or delivering a message.  There are other blogs that deliver a social message, and I deeply appreciate the work they do.  But that is not my purpose in life.  I would like to have fun and entertain – that is all.

Q. What area or topic you generally cover in your blog, any special reason behind it?

The topic that my blog centers around is my family, because I love them deeply and my life gravitates around them, my two sons, and my daughter in law, our three dogs and forty fishes.  We are an urban family and live in the NCR and I feel that we are fairly representative of the urban people in this country.  Somewhere it touches a chord in my readers and it gives me satisfaction that it does.

Q. Which blogging platform you are using (wordpress, blogspot, bloggers etc), any reason about it?

I use wordpress because it is by far the most easy and efficient platform to use.  It is frequently updated and keeps my blog going.

Q. How frequent you update your blog? How many post your blog is carrying at present?

At first I was very prolific.  I had so much to chatter about!  Now I do update the blog a couple of times a week.  Not as often as I wish to, but I have time constraints now.

Q. What tools you use to increase your blog readership and bring people on your blog? Do you use social networking sites?

I use twitter and Facebook but have not used them to consciously increase readership.  My friends come to know that the blog has been updated through these platforms and visit the blog any way.  However, that being said, these social networking platforms are wonderful ways to keep in touch with people, meet new friends and increase blog readership too.

Q. Any specific tips you have for new bloggers who want to make it in the blogsphere?

Be true to yourself and the purpose you’ve set your blog up for.  Readers can sense a fake or a “wannabe” a mile away.  They will read and judge your blog through the words you type.  Remember the internet is a global platform and there is another blog just a click of the mouse away.  You need to get your reader hooked; otherwise the purpose of blogging is defeated.

Q. Do you earn revenue through your blog? If yes then how a blogger should monetize his / her blog? If no, then any plans in future?

Yeah, I would love to earn revenue from blogging.  However, in the last one year I haven’t met with much success.  I have had over 82000 hits in the past year and my Adsense account has notched the princely sum of $9.  This is a personal blog and people do not click ads readily.

Q. What are your other favorite blogs which you follow, can you list the top 5 such blogs?

Too many blogs, all wonderful so it is impossible to list them all …. There are such wonderful minds out there, such mastery of words and technique of expression.  I simply can’t pick and choose favorites!
