Q. What motivated you to start blogging?

A software programmer faces day to day problems/issues in programming. I thought it will be great if I start putting the solutions of the problems that I encounter at some place so that others can get it. First I installed local blogging software on my system and started putting content into it. Once there were a number of posts, I decided to host it on internet. And thus viralpatel.net was born. Gaurav who is a close friend and a fellow blogger on ViralPatel.net inspired me in starting this blog.

Q. Tell us in detail about your blog, your idea and how it can benefit others?

ViralPatel.net is a core programming blog where you will find lot of interesting information. Starting from Java, CSS, jQuery, Struts etc you can get information about 22 different categories.

If you are a novice programmer or wants to know new things in technology, you should start following ViralPatel.net. Also ViralPatel.net is an open community where user may want to share his/her knowledge about different technologies.

Q. What area or topic you generally cover in your blog, any special reason behind it?

I write what I do. Also sometimes people suggest/inspire me to write on some topics. Most of the time I end up writing about Struts, Java, J2EE, CSS, JQuery, JavaScript etc. Also few of my friends like Abhi, Charu Hanumant, Kiran, and Vimal have shared lots of good tutorials about different programming technologies.

Q. Which blogging platform you are using (wordpress, blogspot, bloggers etc), any reason about it?

ViralPatel.net is hosted on Wordpress. It is one of the most popular and ubiquitous platform. I occasionally write about Wordpress tips and tricks too.

Q. How frequent you update your blog? How many post your blog is carrying at present?

The blogging frequency is very less and sometimes I feel I should write more. I write as and when I get time, generally about 3-4 posts a week. As of Oct 2009 ViralPatel.net has about 213 posts spanning about 22 categories.

Q. What tools you use to increase your blog readership and bring people on your blog? Do you use social networking sites?

Google is the major source of traffic for this blog. Also, DZone.com is a good online community for programmers to share good technology links. Lot of traffic for ViralPatel.net also comes from social bookmarking site like Digg and Delicious.

@viralpatelnet at Twitter has become a new source of traffic for this blog.

Q. Any specific tips you have for new bloggers who want to make it in the blogsphere?

Be Patient, Be Consistent. Focus on your niche. Make new friends around. Get involved socially.

Q. Do you earn revenue through your blog? If yes, then how a blogger should monetize his / her blog? If no, then any plans in future?

Yes, ViralPatel.net has started generating some revenue now.  I would suggest that bloggers who wants to monetize their blog must first try to achieve a steady traffic on the blog. If you start getting good amount of hits, you can easily monetize your blog. Just focus on your readers. Try to be as much involved as possible.
