Interview (Q&A Round) :

Q. What motivated you to start blogging?

I was always good in writing essays and short stories in school. It was after school that I felt a void. There was no platform to show my writing skills. Then I came across this blogging concept and I was hooked. It provided me a place of my own to do something I was always good at and for a wider audience.

Q. Tell us in detail about your blog, your idea and how it can benefit others?

Initially the blog was about my personal life and my thoughts. But as time passed the blog took a character of its own. It usually happens to bloggers they begin by experimenting with a lot of stuff and end up doing what gives them the best experience, the same happened with me. By blog ended up as a poetry blog because with the course of time I realized poetry as a powerful medium of expressing my thoughts to people. The readers appreciated my poetry a lot too and could easily relate to it

Q. What area or topic you generally cover in your blog, any special reason behind it?

My primary blog is a poetry blog which is punctuated by random articles and guest posts from other poets. The character of the blog is simple and easy to relate to. In this age of twitter people don’t have time to read about your daily exploits in a lengthy story fashion. They look for wit, information and entertainment. Poetry can provide all three as readers have the time to stop and read the poems in crisp format. Poetry is the fast food for readers.

Q. Which blogging platform you are using (wordpress, blogspot, bloggers etc), any reason about it?

I have in total of 3 blogs. 2 are at blogspot platform while one is at wordpress platform. I find blogspot convenient and easy to use. I think someone who is new to blogging should prefer blogspot over wordpress.

Q. How frequent you update your blog? How many post your blog is carrying at present?

My goal is to give my readers something new to read every 3 days. But as of now I update around twice a week. My idea is not to overload readers with junk posts just for the sake of updating and not to bore them with very little updates. I have over 100 posts in my blog.

Q. What tools you use to increase your blog readership and bring people on your blog? Do you use social networking sites?

I am an active member of indiblogger.com which has brought me a considerable amount of loyal readership. I am on orkut and facebook. A lot of my readers post my articles on their facebook page which attracts a lot of new readers. My fellow bloggers have added my blog in their links which again gets translated into readership and higher page rank.

Q. Any specific tips you have for new bloggers who want to make it in the blogsphere?

Focus, you need one thing and thing alone- Focus. A lot of people who start their blog with much fanfare attract loyal readers but soon lose interest and lose readership. If you want loyal readership, be loyal to your blog. Be responsible to your readers. Respect your readers and most importantly enjoy blogging. There’s no use spending sleepless nights over low readership. Enjoy your blog. Enjoy reading it yourself after all that was what blog is meant to be. Don’t write what people ‘may like’ write what you like.

Q. Do you earn revenue through your blog? If yes then how a blogger should monetize his / her blog? If no, then any plans in future?

No I have no adsense ads on my blog. I think personal blog is not a commercial venture. A lot of ads on your blog may repel readers and make your blog heavy to load. There are ample avenues for bloggers to earn money by putting ads strictly relevant to the content of the blog. As of now I cannot say if I have any plans for the future.

Q. What are your other favorite blogs which you follow, can you list the top 5 such blogs?
