Q. What motivated you to start blogging?

I had an interest in web development since I bought my first computer. Before long I learned enough HTML to create my own site (at Tripod). After some time, I went pro – bought hosting and a few domains. I moved my personal posts to another blog (http://blog.binnyva.com/) so that I can concentrate on just Web Development content at Bin-Blog

Q. Tell us in detail about your blog, your idea and how it can benefit others?

Bin-Blog is a blog that specializes on web development. It specializes on PHP, Server side scripting, Wordpress, etc. There are a quite a few tutorial style posts in the blog. Also, I release all my software in this blog. Sometime, there is continuous release of software that goes on for a week or so. Q. What area or topic you generally cover in your blog, any special reason behind it?

Bin-Blog concentrates on PHP, Server Side Scripting, WordPress, Plugin, CSS etc. I have moved all my personal posts to http://blog.binnyva.com/. JavaScript related posts are at another site – http://www.openjs.com/. Linux posts are at http://lindesk.com/.

Q. Which blogging platform you are using (wordpress, blogspot, bloggers etc), any reason about it?

I started with blogspot – but moved to wordpress. Now I am regarded as a WordPress expert – I have released quite a few plugins for wordpress. When I had the option to self host my site, wordpress was the obvious choice.

Q. How frequent you update your blog? How many post your blog is carrying at present?

I used to publish 2 post/week in my Bin-Blog. But currently I’m on a sabbatical from Bin-Blog – the blog haven’t been updated for a while. I’m working on some new projects at the moment. Once they have a solid foundation, I’ll start publishing new content again.

Q. What tools you use to increase your blog readership and bring people on your blog? Do you use social networking sites?

I use Twitter a lot. Bin-Blog has its own twitter account – @binblog. I also do some publicity stunts like Plugin Week (http://www.bin-co.com/blog/2008/12/wordpress-plugin-week/).

Q. Any specific tips you have for new bloggers who want to make it in the blogsphere?

Play on your strong side. If there is something you love to do, create a blog about it. Don’t think of making money from day one – you’ll need a lot of patience before you get anything from blogging – I got my first paycheck from AdSense only after years of work.

Q. Do you earn revenue through your blog? If yes then how a blogger should monetize his / her blog? If no, then any plans in future?

I use AdSense. It’s the industry standard method – I’d recommend it to anyone who is starting.
