Interview (Q&A Round):

Q. What motivated you to start blogging?

My humor sense motivated me to start blogging. I was a passive blogger since 2003 (reader). I used to visit blogs and enjoy the different writing styles adopted by various bloggers. I never wanted to start a blog of my own. I never dreamt that I would be having a blog of my own too.

A few friends started their own blogs in 2005 and I started one too. All my friends had poetry blogs and hence I started one poetry blog too. In due course of time I found that poetry was not my strong point. Hence I quit from the blogging scene.

After a point of time when I was reading some humor blogs I realized that I could write like that too because I always had been the entertainer for my friends. I never waited after that. I just puke my thoughts in word form and soon I started receiving constructive feedback. After that, there was no turning back.

Q. Tell us in detail about your blog? What area or topic you generally cover in your blog, any special reason behind it?

My blog is a Humor page. The sole purpose of my blog is to spread laughter. I generally write on weird topics. I sit in front of the computer and I just start typing. I never do any home work to publish a post. My humor posts serves as a fodder for people working in stressful surroundings. It is a stress buster mainly for IT professionals. A huge percentage of my readers are in the IT sector. As long as I can make anyone smile, I am happy.

Q. Why reader should come on your blog…What is the best part of your blog?

  • Readers can use the jokes I use in my blog amongst their friends and become popular.
  • Readers can also forward my blog posts as e-mail forwards. I never stop them from doing that (I receive my own blog posts as forwarded e-mails. The funny part is, my signature would have been replaced by someone else’. My only advice to such people is this “ Please do not copy, if you do not know how to paste”
  • My blog is full of lies
  • Sometimes I give a lot of tips for aspirant lovers.
  • I also write about my childhood girlfriend Renu (I fell in love with her when I was three years old. She is now married)
  • My red underwear series, My alter ego “Mr.X” (He writes controversial posts), My nephew and Niece “Jeremy and Jolena” are some of the best things of my blog.

Q. Which blogging platform you are using (wordpress, blogspot, bloggers etc), any reason about it?

I have my own domain now. However it is bought from blogger.

Q. How frequent you update your blog? How many post your blog is carrying at present?

My frequency varies. There have been occasions when I used to update my blog everyday. Now I update my blog at least twice a week. 372 posts and still running strong

Q. What tools you use to increase your blog readership and bring people on your blog? Do you use social networking sites?

I use my feeds to promote my blog. I tweet and I Facebook about my updates too.

Q. Any specific tips you have for new bloggers who want to make it in the blogsphere?

  • You don’t have to prove yourself through your writings. Just make your write ups interesting. Keep the blog-reader in mind
  • Have originality
  • Be open to constructive criticism
  • Select a stream that suits you the best.
  • You don’t have to be a William Shakespeare or John Milton. Even if you have a limited vocabulary, use it to the maximum use ( I am an example for this point)
  • Read a lot of blogs to understand the different writing styles adopted by various bloggers.
  • Be creative
  • Make it a point to learn one new information about the blog world everyday.

Q. Do you earn revenue through your blog? If yes then how a blogger should monetize his / her blog? If no, then any plans in future?

I had experimented with products like adsense and I was successful too. But I like my page to be free of ads. I do not add any external widget or links in my blog page. Hence I removed all the revenue generating ads from my page. Now I do not use my blog to make money. However I make money through freelance writing.

Monetizing a blog requires proper planning. The blog should be properly optimized for Search Engines. I would strongly advocate bloggers to learn about SEO (search engine optimizing). Once your blog pulls in enough readers, then you can start thinking about making money through your blog. So to make money, one should have many readers, an interesting blog and common sense.

Q. What are your other favorite blogs which you follow, can you list a few such blogs?

Humor acts as a magnet for me always. Two names that are in the top of my head are 1. Great Bong (Random thoughts of a demented mind) and 2. Jammy (Ouch my toe)

I have not added the url of the above two blogs because these two blogs are wonderfully optimized for search engines. I request the reader to just try these two names in search engines and you can read their blog posts.

I also read Shiv’s blog (www.iamshiv.com) Shiva is a marketing expert and he educates the readers on all the latest information on online marketing.

I read more than 100 blogs everyday and I learn a lot from these blogs. Before I bid adieu, I would like to say that I am definitely not responsible for any valuables ( Gold, Diamond, Car, Credit card, Jewellery , Underwear or Girlfriend ) lost by the reader in my blog page.
