Interview (Q&A Round):

Q. What motivated you to start blogging?

I have always been very strongly opinionated. I stumbled on Blogger around 5 years ago (I was 12 at the time!) Since then I have had many different blogs, but was never able to sustain any for a long period (I was too immature, perhaps.) When I joined college, I decided to blog a little more seriously. So I started this blog, stuck to it & I’m happy that I did.

Q. Tell us in detail about your blog? What area or topic you generally cover in your blog, any special reason behind it?

My blog is titled ‘Life etc.’ The inspiration behind the title was one of my favorite songs, the song ‘Love etc.’ by the Pet Shop Boys. I think the name fits my blog well because I don’t stick to any single topic. I write about personal experiences, social issues, my philosophies & beliefs, dishes I cook, movies I watch, places I visit, etc.

Q. Why reader should come on your blog…What is the best part of your blog?

I think the best part of my blog is my straightforwardness. I don’t sugarcoat things, but I sometimes put a positive spin to seemingly negative events. A lot of people tell me my posts make them smile! J

However, it is up to my readers to decide what they like best about my blog.

Q. Which blogging platform you are using (wordpress, blogspot, bloggers etc), any reason about it?

I use Blogger.com. My blog used to be hosted on blogspot till about 2 weeks ago when I purchased a custom domain for my blog.

Q. How frequent you update your blog? How many post your blog is carrying at present?

I update my blog every day or every alternate day. However, when I go on trips or have exams I am not able to do so. But I try never to neglect my blog for too long. As of now, (26th Nov) my blog has 112 posts.

Q. What tools you use to increase your blog readership and bring people on your blog? Do you use social networking sites?

I am registered on a couple of Blogger Networking sites/ Blogger communities & that helps me meet fellow bloggers & discover interesting new blogs to follow. My blog has a Facebook page, it is not really to increase readership but to keep fans of my blog updated on new posts.

Q. Any specific tips you have for new bloggers who want to make it in the blogsphere?

Post regularly, but give more importance to quality & not quantity. Don’t start promoting your blog as soon as you start it, wait a few months. Invite people you know to your blog, but don’t spam them. Read some blogs with similar topics as yours & leave meaningful comments.

Q. Do you earn revenue through your blog? If yes then how a blogger should monetize his / her blog? If no, then any plans in future?

I am registered with AdSense, but it doesn’t really work well for me. I am not looking to commercialize my blog, I am happy as it is. But maybe in approximately 20 years I will get a cheque!

Q. What are your other favorite blogs which you follow, can you list the top 5 such blogs?

All my favorite blogs are in my blogroll. Couldn’t pick out any particular 5.
