Interview  (Q & A Round):

Q. What motivated you to start blogging?

It started off as a totally personal blog, as a way of telling my friends what was going on in my life. I have always needed to write, and the blog was an outlet.

Q. Tell us in detail about your blog, your idea and how it can benefit others?

It’s not meant to benefit anyone, really. Not directly. I blog to air my opinions, to reach out, to find people with similar thoughts. Sometimes, to have a discussion and learn something I hadn’t known, or thought about in that way. So it’s supposed to benefit me more than anyone else. My blog is about my life and my opinions.

Q. Which blogging platform you are using (wordpress, blogspot, bloggers etc), any reason about it?

I’m not sure what “bloggers” is… I use blogger because I find it easier and it integrates with my Google account. I tried out wordpress, but while it offers much more flexibility and features, it’s also a little more difficult to use. I suppose that depends on what you’re used to, though.

Q. How frequent you update your blog? How many post your blog is carrying at present?

There’s no fixed posting frequency, I write when I feel like it. I like to post two or three times a week, though it’s gone down a lot in the last six weeks or so.

Q. What tools you use to increase your blog readership and bring people on your blog? Do you use social networking sites?

I don’t really. I am on twitter, and sometimes tweet when I have updated my blog. But my ‘followers’ on twitter are mostly people who read my blog anyway. I don’t do a good job of marketing my blog: because I’d rather spend that time on writing or reading instead.

Q. Any specific tips you have for new bloggers who want to make it in the blogsphere?

Well, I don’t know that I’ve made it yet, so who am I to say?

Q. Do you earn revenue through your blog? If yes, then how a blogger should monetize his / her blog? If no, then any plans in future?

No. I did put Adsense up, more as an experiment than anything else – and as yet, it hasn’t been successful. I didn’t expect it to be… from what I’ve read blog ads don’t work unless you have phenomenal traffic. I don’t have any plans to earn money through my blog.

Q. What are your other favorite blogs which you follow, can you list the top 5 such blogs?

Five is too low. I follow 136 blogs on my Reader. Some are people I know and I want to know what they’re doing: most are blogs that have me hooked on their content.
