“I am a thinker. I like to sit and think about why things are the way they are. I am a dreamer. I like to dream big and find ways to fulfill them. I am a creator. I love to create works of fiction and poetry. I am a learner. I like to learn new things, from my mistakes and from others. Finally, I am a fighter. I fight my internal demons, break the shackles to seek newer avenues and fight against leading a mundane life.” says Vittaldas Prabhu, a Software Engineer by profession.

His passion for writing encouraged him to start his own blog “How I Wonder” in July 2009, the blog mainly focuses on Fiction, Poetry and also on his personal thoughts and experience about life.

Interview (Q&A Round):

Q. What motivated you to start blogging?

I have always been fascinated with writing. I never had the motivation during my teenage days (when I first started to write) to keep writing. But now I do not really need any motivation as my passion helps as a self-motivating factor. Added are the readers of my blog who dutifully read my posts and provide me their valuable comments, thoughts and much needed appreciation too.

Q. Tell us in detail about your blog? What area or topic you generally cover in your blog, any special reason behind it?

My blog is a stage for me, mainly to showcase my works of fiction and poetry. Once in a while I write about general thoughts about life or surroundings that come to my mind.

Q. Why reader should come on your blog…What is the best part of your blog?

The main reason why I think readers should find my blog interesting is that it is completely original. My only intention is to write and only write. Moreover, I am an aspiring writer and I would like to receive constructive criticism as well.

Q. Which blogging platform you are using (wordpress, blogspot, bloggers etc), any reason about it?

I use Google’s Blogger (blogspot) to host my posts. The reasons for using blogspot are twofold. First, it is Google’s acquisition and hence I can manage it with my Google account. Google presents a very nice feature of organizing all the application I use under one name. Secondly, when I started blogging couple of years back I had chosen Blogger as that was the only one I knew then and I wish to continue using it as I am completely at home using it.

Q. How frequent you update your blog? How many post your blog is carrying at present?

I try to upload at least three posts every month. That would mean an average of one post every ten days. Given that blogging is a hobby and my job takes priority, these numbers may vary. Currently my blog holds just 13 posts.

Q. What tools you use to increase your blog readership and bring people on your blog? Do you use social networking sites?

I have been using, and still use, different tricks and tools to increase my readership or have public take a peek at my blog. I share a few of them here:

  • Reach out to other bloggers by reading their blogs and if it interests me leave a comment and welcome them to my space.
  • Tweet about new posts on twitter.com.
  • Always read new blog posts promptly from bloggers I follow and make sure to leave a relevant comment (not simply appreciation for anything under the Sun).
  • I am also subscribed to Indiblogger.in that would allow people to visit my blog whenever they come across my profile.

Q. Any specific tips you have for new bloggers who want to make it in the blogsphere?

I am not much of a veteran in blogging to advise new bloggers. All I would like to tell is that many people resort to blogging for monetary benefits. Nothing wrong with that; but let your blog host nice and original posts from you that would not be mundane or a rip-off.

Q. Do you earn revenue through your blog? If yes then how a blogger should monetize his / her blog? If no, then any plans in future?

I had been using AdBrite but the revenues were very low. But right now I have removed this widget from my blog as I am more interested in readership than monetary benefits from visits. Once I have good readership and the popularity of my blog increases I might consider putting the ads back on my blog.

Q. What are your other favorite blogs which you follow, can you list the top 5 such blogs?

I have blogrolled all my favorite blogs in the Blog Roll widget at my blog.
