“All I can say is to be HONEST in whatever you write. Exaggeration and fakeness shall fade away with time and it is only those simple, straight works that stand the test of time.”

“Well…I started blogging as early as February 2007.That time around, it was my first year in college and there was this cult fest where in, there was a competition on the Best Branch Blog. Me and a few of my friends took up this new avenue without any idea and went on to do actually nothing. :)   The fact was that, all of us were unaware on what needed to be done and it just turned out to be my first attempt on Blogging – a pretty sour one, but it kept me on tenterhooks for the next one year on the nuances of it. To top it up, I got to see a debate on NDTV where in, I got to know of a certain Meenakshi Reddy Madhavan and her blog. The very next day, I logged into her blog and I have never left it till date, So eM – as she is known to the blog world is my inspiration into Blogging” says Nikhil.

In an interview with WebNeeTech, Nikhil shared his experience as a blogger and a word of advice for the new bloggers or who are thinking to start a new blog.

Interview (Q&A Round):

Q. What motivated you to start blogging?

Well…I started blogging as early as February 2007.That time around, it was my first year in college and there was this cult fest where in, there was a competition on the Best Branch Blog. Me and a few of my friends took up this new avenue without any idea and went on to do actually nothing.:)  The fact was that, all of us were unaware on what needed to be done and it just turned out to be my first attempt on Blogging – a pretty sour one, but it kept me on tenterhooks for the next one year on the nuances of it. To top it up, I got to see a debate on NDTV where in, I got to know of a certain Meenakshi Reddy Madhavan and her blog. The very next day, I logged into her blog and I have never left it till date. So, eM – as she is known to the blog world is my inspiration into Blogging.

Q. Tell us in detail about your blog? What area or topic you generally cover in your blog, any special reason behind it?

My blog(s) have all been personal blogs. Reasons behind it were very few. Personal because, I think I would rather want to be a first rated version of myself than being a second rated version of someone else. And when I put this in the context of things around me, I felt I could contribute to this world in my fullest extent if only I write about myself. Sure, the way I got about it has changed over the years, but the basic theme is Me, Myself and I.

Q. Why reader should come on your blog…What is the best part of your blog?

How do I answer such a query?? To be honest, I do not have any magic within to pull the readers towards me and my blog. So the only thing that I can do from my side is to be HONEST in my writings. And I just look at that side of things. I try to be as honest and frank as I possibly can and that must be one reason why I have readers on my blog, and having said that, I am also grateful for the fact that, some of my readers have become an indispensable part of my life.

Q. Which blogging platform you are using (wordpress, blogspot, bloggers etc), any reason about it?

I have tried on all the popular platforms of blogs (Wordpress as well as Blogger). Both of them are good. But I prefer Blogger for its user friendliness and the accessibility that comes with it, on comparison with Wordpress which is more elegant on any day.

Q. How frequent you update your blog? How many post your blog is carrying at present?

I write when I feel like. Usually it is around two posts a week. And The Stage had 45 posts before I thought, there needed a change. So, I moved into the Elixirs of Life which would give a different approach to me and the world around me. The current blog is still making baby steps and it is just a few days since its inception.

Q. What tools you use to increase your blog readership and bring people on your blog? Do you use social networking sites?

Blogging is by no means, meant to be looked onto by the eyes of a businessman. I do not blog to make money. Infact I do not have a single ad-sense advert on my space. On bringing in people, I do visit blogs of other writers, read them and comment only if I like what they write. And there is a mutual response that comes with it and hence, there come the readers with it too.

Q. Any specific tips you have for new bloggers who want to make it in the blogsphere?

I am no veteran to be advising a novice. All I can say is to be HONEST in whatever you write. Exaggeration and fakeness shall fade away with time and it is only those simple, straight works that stand the test of time.

Q. Do you earn revenue through your blog? If yes then how a blogger should monetize his / her blog? If no, then any plans in future?

Sorry, I do not intend to do this at any stage in life.

Q. What are your other favorite blogs which you follow, can you list the top 5 such blogs?

eM’s blogwww.thecompulsiveconfessor.blogspot.com

Annie’s blogwww.whitelilyz.blogspot.com

Neha’s blogwww.escortinglifetodeath.blogspot.com
