Interview (Q&A Round):
Q. What motivated you to start blogging?
I blog for many reasons, One of them is to express my thoughts without an editor editing them. Another to make a difference in people’s lives in some way. I try and present information in a simple form so that it helps people, I also blog because I like to interact with my readers. And last but not the least, I love to write.
Q. Tell us in detail about your blog, your idea and how it can benefit others?
I write about different issues concerning India, from politics and social issues to movie and book reviews. I usually research my posts and present different arguments in as clear a manner as possible. I like to think from a global standpoint and many of my posts compare India and the world. Also, I think it is important to have a strong voice outside of conventional media. It is not only me, but bloggers on the whole are making a difference as to how information is being presented to the public. The bloggers are the public.
Q. What area or topic you generally cover in your blog, any special reason behind it?
I cover all topics and the reason is that I am interested in everything concerning India.
Q. Which blogging platform you are using (wordpress, blogspot, bloggers etc), any reason about it?
I use Wordpress because I think it has a simple interface.
Q. How frequent you update your blog? How many posts is your blog carrying at present?
Of late I have been updating my blog about twice a week. I began with one or two posts a month, then gradually increased it. There was a time when I used to write 4-5 posts a week but I have now reduced it to two. The total number of posts on my blog is 974.
Q. What tools you use to increase your blog readership and bring people on your blog? Do you use social networking sites?
Frankly I have done nothing to promote my blog. I opened my facebook account barely a week back. I started my Linked in account about a year back but get no hits from there. I do comment on other blogs but the intention has never been to increase traffic. It was because I did not make any effort to promote my blog that my going was slow. I had a very slow first year.
Q. Any specific tips you have for new bloggers who want to make it in the blogosphere?
Yes, and that is don’t think of becoming a popular blogger when you start. Just be sincere about what you write, write regularly and work hard at your posts. Blogging is hard work.
Q. Do you earn revenue through your blog? If yes, then how a blogger should monetize his / her blog? If no, then any plans in future?
Wordpress does not allow advertisements and I knew this before I chose Wordpress. I have no intention at present to monetize my blog. For me this is a hobby and a pleasure. I think it is going to remain so, at least with this blog. A lot of people have advised me to monetize my blog, but I think it will spoil it for me. I have started another blog, on palmistry which I plan to monetize in the future. It has just started and the url is:
For those who want to monetize their blog I just want to say is that it’s like any other business in real life. You need to be very good at what you do.
Q. What are the other favorite blogs which you follow, can you list the top 5 such blogs?
I follow a fair amount of blogs but I cannot list them according to which one is my favourite as it will not be fair to those blogs. The truth is that I have dozens of favourite blogs. I like them for different things. I read blogs from all over the world.

One thing that separates your blog from others is the depth and breadth of information and analysis of a subject dealt with in the post. No other blog can match that! Your choice of subjects is also varied and one keeps guessing what you’ll write about next. Keep up the good work, Nita!
