Webneetech.com interviewed Divya founder of “And that’s what it’s all about”; the blog is all about her personal experience, incident, thought and views.
Divya who wanted to share her sweet experience of life with world says “I had been at my B school campus for a whole year, and had moved to Gurgaon for my summers for two months. This was the longest I had spent away from the campus, and I missed it terribly. Coincidentally, so did others. So a common blog was started for our batch, where everyone would make a note of their summer’s experiences, including myself. But a few posts later, I realized that I had quite a lot to write down, and I was taking too much space on the common page. That’s when I created my personal blog.”

Blogger’s Detail:
Blogger’s Name: Divya
About Divya: Divya says” I am a 27 year old Finance professional, in this line of work for the past 4.5 years. The blogging bug bit me in early 2004, when I was a B-schooler, and found out about a couple of my batch mates who had started blogging. And it seemed like a good idea to make note of things I would like to revisit and remember sometime in future. It’s more than 5 years, and thankfully, I am still around. And blogging has grown from being a mere record of the happenings around, to a place where I can speak my mind, announce my likes and dislikes, pen down my opinions and views, about anything that matters to me in anyway. It’s been a fun journey, and I hope it continues!”

Interview (Q&A Round):
Q. What motivated you to start blogging?
Campus-sickness. I had been at my B school campus for a whole year, and had moved to Gurgaon for my summers for two months. That’s when I created my personal blog.
Q. Tell us in detail about your blog? What area or topic you generally cover in your blog, any special reason behind it?
Like most blogs on the World Wide Web, mine is a completely personal blog. In fact, when I began writing in 2004, I have included references to many events, places and people who obviously no one would have any idea about. The main reason being, I used to update it on a daily basis almost, like a diary. But now, I restrict myself to certain events and characters only. So my blog would have a lot about my work (no, not details on what I do and for who!), where I spend most of my awake hours every week, some very close friends, my husband, my family, the movies I watch, my views on them, the books I read, the music I listen to, places I travel to, some anecdotes, some rants and of course general banter.
Q. Why reader should come on your blog…What is the best part of your blog?
Well, my blog carries my views on a variety of topics! Ranging from what season I like (which wouldn’t be useful to anyone), to what books I would recommend, or movies I like, or places I travel to (which might be useful to someJ). I never do thorough reviews of anything, something I am incapable of I feel, but instead give a very informal, opinionated view of things the way I see them! But yes, if you are in for some light reading, a peek into the funnier aspects of my life, and sometimes into my complaints and rants in general, you’re welcome to visit!
Q. Which blogging platform you are using (wordpress, blogspot, bloggers etc), any reason about it?
I am currently using Livejournal. And mainly because the group blog from my campus days which inspired me to start this page was on Livejournal! I do have plans to shift the page to a more convenient location, but not sure when!
Q. How frequent you update your blog? How many post your blog is carrying at present?
Ah, another thing I need to work on. I used to be pretty regular sometime back, but now my posting has dwindled to approximately a post per week. And this is an average. So not too good! I have around 230 posts on the blog right now.
Q. What tools you use to increase your blog readership and bring people on your blog? Do you use social networking sites?
Actually none. In fact, I try keeping the blog id away from the social networking sites. I had it listed on one site before, and it attracted a set of unwarranted comments and visitors. So that’s not happening anymore. Almost all the readers of my blog are people I have not known otherwise!
Q. Any specific tips you have for new bloggers who want to make it in the blogsphere?
Write what pleases you! Getting readers is fun, counting comments and hits makes you feel good, but at the end of the day, it is just as nice to have a page which has on it, all that mattered to you so much that you penned it all down. Stay regular and share your comments and views on other blogs you follow as well, that’s in fact how you end up making a whole network on the blogosphere!
Q. What you like most about internet and why?
Internet is a lifesaver. There isn’t one other invention which has helped so much in getting people closer. Right from being able to locate long lost friends through social networking sites, to getting in touch with likeminded people through forums, blogs, and getting anything and everything you need to know about at the click of a button, it is almost a miracle. I can’t think how we survived in the pre-internet world.
Q. What you hate most about internet and why?
It’s made us lazy? I mean, it is easier to scrap a person his birthday wishes, when in the past you would have ensured you called. And of course, it is addictive!
Q. Do you earn revenue through your blog? If yes then how a blogger should monetize his / her blog? If no, then any plans in future?
No. And I have a very simple reason for it. I need my blog to look good in general, have an aesthetic appeal to it. And ads posted all over it is the best way to run that.
Q. What are your other favorite blogs which you follow, can you list the top 5 such blogs?
I have 100+ blogs I have subscribed to on my reader! So that’s a very difficult question to answer. There are so many amazing blogs out there, that I come across something new almost everyday!
